The 8th FPG-Universities English Singing Video Contest, 2026

I. Event Title
The 8th Formosa Plastics Group Three Universities English Singing Video Contest

II. Purpose
This contest integrates English singing with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to encourage students from the three Formosa Plastics Group universities to develop an interest in learning English and improve their English proficiency. Through this event, students are also expected to enhance their understanding of the SDGs and develop concrete ideas and actions to fulfill their responsibilities as global citizens.

V. Eligibility
Students from all departments and graduate institutes of the three Formosa Plastics Group universities, including international students whose native language is not English.

VI. Registration Period and Procedure
Registration is open from now until Friday, October 30, 2026.

Participants must complete the online registration form for the “8th Formosa Plastics Group Three Universities English Singing Video Contest” through Ming Chi University of Technology’s online registration system and submit the video link by the deadline.

VII. Contest Rules

Participants must record their performance and upload the video to YouTube. After completing the online registration, participants must email the YouTube video link to luyuzeng@mail.mcut.edu.tw. The email must include the participant’s university, name, and contact phone number.

Important: Upon receiving the submission, the organizer will send a confirmation email stating, “Your contest entry has been received.” Participants must make sure that they receive this confirmation email. If you have not received the confirmation email by 12:00 noon on November 2, please contact Ms. Lu-Yu Tseng at (02) 2908-9899 ext. 2238.

  1. The theme or content of the selected song must be related to one or more of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants may select their own song, provided that it is related to the SDGs, or refer to the suggested SDG-related playlist. The song lyrics must be performed in English.
  2. Each entry may consist of one to five participants.
  3. When uploading the video to YouTube, please use the following settings:
    • Title: “Ming Chi University of Technology – The 8th Formosa Plastics Group Three Universities English Singing Video Contest”
    • Tag: Ming Chi University of Technology – The 8th Formosa Plastics Group Three Universities English Singing Video Contest
    • Visibility: Unlisted

VIII. Judging Panel
Ming Chi University of Technology will invite three professionals with expertise in music and English language teaching to serve as judges.

IX. Judging Criteria

1. Evaluation Criteria

English Pronunciation and Articulation 40%
Vocal Quality, Singing Technique, and Fluency 40%
Costume, Styling, and Stage Presence 20%

2. Performance Duration
Each entry is limited to one song. Participants should not select a song that exceeds six minutes in length. Points will be deducted if the performance exceeds the time limit.

X. Awards
Awards will be presented as follows:

  • First Place: Certificate and NT$3,000 gift voucher
  • Second Place: Certificate and NT$2,500 gift voucher
  • Third Place: Certificate and NT$1,500 gift voucher
  • Best Courage Award: Certificate and NT$1,000 gift voucher (3 recipients)

Note: The organizer reserves the right to adjust the number and categories of awards based on the final number of entries.

XI. Important Notes

  1. Participants must provide complete and accurate registration information. Impersonation or violation of the eligibility requirements is strictly prohibited. If any violation is verified, the participant will be disqualified. Any prizes or certificates already awarded must be returned, and the participant’s award status will be revoked.
  2. To ensure fairness in judging, participants must not reveal the name of their university during the contest. Participants must not wear school uniforms or clothing bearing their university’s name, logo, or other identifying marks. Any participant who violates this rule will be disqualified, and the entry will not be scored.
  3. Any matters not covered herein will be communicated to participants by telephone or email as necessary. Relevant information will also be announced on the organizer’s website.
